needle bearing

The construction of the needle bearings which are installed in the rear torsion beams of the PSA concern cars or cars with their type of suspension, like Samand (Iran) or Lifan (China), is specific. Such bearings have built-in stuffing box, end cap, slender rollers and thin outer race. There is no inner race – the needle rollers move directly on the shaft. This shaft is also called axle or rear beam pin.

There must be two bearings both sides of the beam (the kit).

The bearing placed closer to the edge of the beam is called outer, the other one – inner.

The bearings are placed into arm, which is then mounted on the pin, pressed into the beam, in Peugeot Partner, Peugeot 405, Peugeot 206, Citroen Berlingo and Samand. The inner bearing has a stuffing box. The outer one has an end cap in the following models: Peugeot Partner, 405, Citroen Berlingo, Samand. Peugeot 206 and 106 has no such a cap; the stuffing box is installed there separately.

The bearings are placed into the rear beam tube in the following cars: Peugeot 306 and 309, Citroen Xsara, Lifan. The pin is pressed into the arm. All the needle bearings of these cars have stuffing boxes.

Sizes of the needle bearings of Peugeot, Citroen differ from each other depending on the car model.
